Approximately 99% of us will be exposed to, or become a victim of a violent crime. Women alone should be especially aware of these tips to prevent yourself from becoming a victim.
(1) The three reasons women are easy targets of random acts of violence:
(a) Lack of awareness
Always be aware of your surroundings.
(b) Body Language
Stand up straight and keep your head up.
©Wrong place, wrong time
DON’T walk alone especially at night.
(2) Women have a tendency to get into their cars and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc)
DON’T DO THIS! AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK YOUR DOORS AND LEAVE.
(a) A few notes about getting into a car in a parking lot, or parking garage: Be aware: Lo0k around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat.
(b) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger side. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the woman is attempting to get into their cars.
© Look at the parked car on the driver’s side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/ policeman to walk you back out.
(3) Many shopping malls have security patrols. If you are carrying a lot of package and feel insecure, do not hesitate to ask someone to escort you to your care.
(4) Walk with confidence. Head up, looking about, focusing on your surroundings and giving the impression you are aware, not distracted.
(5) Avoid areas that are dark, unpopulated or that make you feel uncomfortable. If you feel insecure, it is likely a good place to avoid alone!
Stay Safe! Be Alert!
